Tel Aviv Lodging

Tel Aviv has an amazing wide range of lodging options. From chain five star hotels to one of a kind boutique hotels to low cost hostels. Tel Aviv is a compact city divided into a few regions. Large international chains line the Mediterranean beach from Jaffa in the south to the city edge at the north. Boutique hotels are situated around the city and are a great alternative to the large hotels. Cheap Tel Aviv Hotels have long been the low cost option in Tel Aviv. They are concentrated in the south of the city along Alembi and Ben Yehuda streets.

Traditional international hotel chains: Hilton, Sheraton, Carlton, Best Western Regency and Crown Plaza offer traditional high-end lodging in Tel Aviv. Tourists and businessmen can also try the boutique hotels adjacent to the Mediterranean sea hotel strip (Melody Hotel, Art Hotel, and Savoy Sea Side Hotel) At the southern most section of the sea strip are large Israeli hotels: David Intercontinental and Dan Panorama, these two big hotels are close to Jaffa and the Neveh Tzedek sections.

Boutique hotels, small, individually designed and run, unique to their location have been a part of Tel Aviv's hotel offering the last five years. The Melody Hotel, the Art Hotel, Cinema Hotel and Savoy Sea Side Hotels are examples of different style boutique hotels. Tel Aviv's boutique hotels do not necessarily target the high-touch tourists like in London and New York. There are hotels at the mid-price range in the center of town, Cinema Hotel offers a great location for business travelers with a unique design. Central Tel Aviv offers a large range of restaurants, clubs, cafes and shops with a local style. If you want to see more of Tel Aviv's local life, this are is a better alternative to the more touristy sea area.

Tel Aviv's is the business, cultural and tourism center of Israel. Tel Aviv is also a jumping point for travelers to Africa, central Asia and Europe. This makes for a dynamic hotel scene with daily developments. There are many hotels in the city (approximately 50 active at any one time.) In the last few years (2006/09) many few hotel renovations upgraded the city's image. There is also a trend to build smaller boutique hotels. This trend is driven by Tel Aviv's compact layout and the tourist diversity.

Business travelers may wish to stay closer to their meeting destination. Central Tel Aviv and other parts of the city offer smaller hotels and many more attractions than the beach strip. If you are on a business trip the Park Plaza in the Azrieli Center is located right on the highway and in the same complex as the train station and close to other public transportation. If you are on a pilgrimage trip and need to get to Jerusalem, any location closer to the highway or public transportation is much more convinient.

Tel Aviv's hotel rates tend to follow tourist demands. In 2009 the Israeli economy and tourist volume has risen by 50% over 2008. This makes for high hotel occupancy rate which explains the less then flexible price policy at most hotels. If you are looking for bargains take a look at the none name-brand (Sheraton, Hilton) hotels and look for special deals on a seasonal basis or just before your departure. During Jewish and Christian holidays Israel is flooded with tourists and visitors, be aware of higher prices and lower availability. Check with hotels well before these dates.
